The military apparently has a “cyber capable” defense weapon that will bring down your dangerous DJI Phantom. Unfortunately this technology is dull enough to put me to sleep even after two cups of coffee. I was happy to correct the problem, though, and glad to be a service to my country.

How soon can we get these distributed to everybody who thinks they’re important enough for their neighbors to spy on?

Hah, nice. But drones can be really quite dangerous. Have you not seen what hitting a bird does to a helicopter or a plane?
I’d also be willing to bet that it’s only a matter of time before some nutjob attaches a bomb to one.

I’ll have to disagree with you there. How many injuries do you guess were sustained during that bird strike? If there were any, they were very minor. Turns out, like bird strikes, the risk of drones is miniscule.
Also, the payload of consumer drones is so small that any explosive a nutjob might attach wouldn’t be large enough to cause considerable damage. Of course, a dedicated nutjob could build their own larger more capable drone, but really, that same nutjob could just as easily fill a u-haul full of fertilizer and drive it into a building.
